--- Worth A Read (SHARED) --- P.S : Read This Before Watching Interstellar ... !!! I just loved the way they have portrayed Information on Black hole.. Without giving out much spoilers, I will try to share few points which will help people understand the movie much easily. Be warned!!! This is a little BIIIIIIGGGG post. But if you read it, I think it will be worth your time So.. here we go... * We are three dimensional creatures, X is our width - Y is our length - Z is our height. Hence we can think, move, construct, destruct in these dimensions (We can build a house[involves X,Y,Z], walk through street[involves only Y], e.t.c). Whereas Einstein proved that there are two more dimensions. Which are Time and Space. Nolans movie talks about a Being which is actually Five dimensional. Hence they can construct and destruct in their five dimensions.. Which include building a Worm hole, Manipulating singularity, e.t.c. * Wormhole is a theoretical concept in physics. It acts like a tunnel through which we can travel through space quickly. Imagine a paper with one end being X and the other being Y. Now imagine folding the paper so that X touches Y. Now for an ant to travel from X to Y, when it is not folded, it takes longer time than for an ant to travel from X to y when the paper is folded. So basically wormhole acts the same way.. Only that we will never be able to fold the space and time, since that is not a tangible dimension for us.(At least from our understanding) *Blackhole. Interesting topic. A star, which has collapsed on its own core, forms a Blackhole. Its mass is so huge, that it starts attracting anything which crosses its place. The belief is that, since Time and Space will be manipulated by gravity, Time around a black hole will be too stretched. Hence people who are near the black hole, will feel like only seven minutes are passed. But in reality it is much more than that. A relate-able example is, when you are seeing a very interesting movie, 3 hours passes just like an hour. You wont do anything much productive in such time. But at the same time, a person who is waiting to eat his lunch hungrily, will feel the exact opposite. For him, the three hours would be like a day. (Just an example to relate, actually it doesnt work like that at all) *Surface of a Blackhole - Now this is very important to understand. Because, for me this was the most beautiful part of the movie. Leonard Susskind has once put forward a more acceptable theory about black hole, which doesnt entirely destroy our understanding about physics. Our physics laws(conservation of mass), state that, Mass can neither be created nor be destroyed. But a black hole, keeps swallowing stuff. So where does it go? Stephen hawking once proposed it might transfer to another galaxy! But Leonard thinks that, interestingly, Whatever a black hole has observed, it stores in itself as information. Information in the form of time, space, light. So here, in the movie, when there is a scene where you are going to see multiple frames of a same person in different timeline, you have to understand that all these data is collected in the black hole. I have explained before that we can work only in three dimensions! But... If we were able to operate on five dimensions.. The scene which I am talking about.. Is exactly how it would have been. This is where the beauty of Nolans(Or whoever has composed the scene) thinking is. In the scene which we are talking about.. Time is also one of the dimension. This is possible because, all the information is stored in a black hole, including Time and Space. Hence the character is able to happily walk between past and the present. Well here is what I think, will be enough to understand the basic concepts in the movie. # Brilliantly Explained !!!
