---15th August or 14th August; a historical view.--- A minority of Pakistanis think Pakistan was freed on 15th of August, 1947 where a majority believes its rather 14th August, 1947 to be the day of independence. Yes, it is true that first independence day was celebrated on 15th August, 1948 and Sir Jinnah also considered the independence day to be 15th August; atleast until 15th August, 1948. History says that the independence day is actually 14th of August. Reason: On 00:00 (12 A.M) Radio Pakistan announced the freedom of Pakistan after recitation of Surah Fateha. At 9:00 A.M of 14th August, 1947; Lord Mount Batten announced Pakistan to be a separate state from the Sub-continent. Celebrations were made that day. However, Pakistan wasnt officially free the whole day of 14th August,1947. It was free after 9:00 A.M. But, on 15th August, 1947, Pakistan was free for the whole day. Muhammad Ali Jinnah delivered his speech on Radio Pakistan announcing freedom on 15th August 1947. He celebrated, along with the nation, independence day on 15th August, 1948. At the dawn of 15th August, 1947, Pakistanis were already free; but the dawn of independence was announced on 14th August. So its a disputed case about the two dates.
