-- ELLIPTICAL CONSTRUCTION-- Hi there, today I am going to discuss about Elliptical Construction. It is used for combining two complex sentences which have the same predicate. There are two types of EC. There are three, actually. But I am going to discuss two of them. The first one is positive. I mean, you use it in positive sentences. Here is the pattern: S + V + O and S + Auxiliary verb (do, does, did, is, am, are, etc.) + too or.... S + V + O and so+ Auxiliary verb (do, does, did, is, am, are, etc.) + S For instance: I love watching movies and Tony does too I love watching movies and so does Tony Tukul is handsome and so are Azis and Sule Tukul is handsome and Azis and Sule are too The second one is used for negative sentence. Here is the pattern: S + auxiliary verb + not + V + O and S + Auxiliary verb (do, does, did, is, am, are, etc.) not + either or ...... S + auxiliary verb + not + V + O and neither + Auxiliary verb (do, does, did, is, am, are, etc.) + S For instance: I dont like eating Angsle and Tony doesnt either I dont like eating Angsle and neither does Tony I wont come to the party and Tukul will not either I wont come to the party and neither will Tukul Hopefully, it will be useful
