-- The Christ Consciousness: the New Age beliefs on Christianity. -- (THIS IS PART 1)... The information is long, so Ive broken it into parts. Some quotes and information below are taken from Dane Rudhyar. Rudhyar is a former student of Alice Bailey, who was the major figure in the founding of Humanistic Astrology. - page 39, New Age Encyclopedia, by J. Gordon Melton. ----- The gospel message that the New Age presents, and their version of Jesus, is different from the Biblical account of Jesus. The message of the New Age can be summed up in the following quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, The Greatest Revelation is that God is in every man. This is also the revelation of Rhonda Byrnes book, called The Secret, which was promoted on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In addition, this was also the same line that the serpent in the Garden of Eden fed to Adam and Eve (ref: Genesis 3:4-6 in KJV). Luciferianism, paints the devil as the good guy who was only trying to give enlightenment, or sacred knowledge to humanity, while Jehovah (Yahowah), was trying to keep it from them. The esoteric (or secret) knowledge in mystical interpretations, is that we are gods. This is said to be the hidden truth that is kept from the unenlightened minds. Human beings being gods or becoming gods is also relevant to Mormon teachings, also known as the Latter-Day Saints. Mormonism teaches that human beings are the literal spirit children of God, and teach that we can grow and progress spiritually, through eternal progression, and eventually be gods of own planets (or worlds). (Journal of Discourses Volume 6 page 275 --Brigham Young), After men have got their exaltations and their crowns—have become Gods, even the sons of God—are made Kings of kings and Lords of lords, they have the power then of propagating their species in spirit. This is a key for you. The faithful will become Gods, even the sons of God; From the Bibles standpoint, a person who is born into this fallen world is separated from God (spiritually speaking) and is not filled with Gods Holy Spirit, until they receive Jesus as their Saviour, and they must trust in the atonement made in His blood as the full payment for sins. Even when we are filled with Gods Holy Spirit, His Spirit dwells within us, but we do not become God. We are adopted as the children of God when we receive His Holy Spirit. Jesus didnt die to make us gods, but to save us from eternal damnation. The New Agers reject this Biblical view as clinging to the old rugged cross. Oprah often promotes New Age teachings and endorses New Age books & materials like Marianne Williamsons A Course in Miracles. Some of their teachings are as follows: “Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the old rugged cross [12], a slain Christ has no meaning [10],” “The journey to the cross should be the last ‘useless journey [11], “The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation [17], “The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol... It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray [13], Lesson #70 teaches the student to say and believe “My salvation comes from me, The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself [15]. The New Agers remedy for our separation from God is not through the blood atonement of Jesus Christ and His way of salvation, but enlightenment (gaining knowledge of spiritual realities) with the help of meditations, channeling, and other practices.
