- 20131103 - Hermach perspective - SO MANY PEOPLE of integrity, ethics, morals, principles, commonsense and courage knew this so long ago: Plato (approximately 300 BC), Alexander Von Humboldt (1802), the Entire NY State Legislature (1894 or 1897 - with their unanimous approval of their NY State FOREVER WILD Constitutional Amendment),Teddy Roosevelt (1880s-early 1900s apx) and his successful early creation of our Forest Reserves which was then partially weakened by the 1897 Organic Act), most of FDRs Cabinet officials 1930s-1940s. BUT THE SAD FACTS ARE that with every passage of a COMPROMISED but claimed to be VICTORIOUS environmental bill, from the 1964 and other additional Wilderness Acts, NEPA, NFMA (which for the first time made it legal for corporations to CLEARCUT National Forests and BLM forests), and with so many if not ALL National Forest Management or Logging Plans ever more logging and other industrial uses were sanctioned with each and eve3ry compromise. Even with the better than most but still egregiously compromised and somewhat de-fanged, Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act (which for the first time made it a LEGAL RIGHT FOR CORPORATIONS TO POLLUTE BOTH). With but a few notable exceptions - the Neville Chamberlains, Benedict Arnolds, and politically realistic establishment environmental organizations, claiming to be great RAMBO-like Defenders of Nature sanctioned the liquidation and destruction of a lot more forested acres than they ever saved, as they gave away ever more of our National Forest Commonwealth of cathedral native forests and watersheds, and all the soil, air and water, fish and wildlife, climate and weather that they produced, to industrial extractions big-money interests for industrial logging, mining, grazing and drilling, even building dams for water diversions.. All of this was done in the name of economic growth, prosperity and jobs while all of that was nothing but industrys lies. Industry hates jobs, always has and always will. They will use machines, computers and robots in a heartbeat every chance they get. And with all their treasonous FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS like Bill Clintons giant sucking sound NAFTA, GATT AND WTO, and now Obamas even worse TPP and Atlantic being secretly negotiated with 600 corporate leaders , Hillary, et.al., it will be far worse for labor, life, land and liberty in the US and globally. The Imperial Empire of the Industrial Complex will destroy us all. Furthermore all the accounting and economics of industrial extraction is completely dishonest and fraudulent. All the Natural Capital Assets removed from our Commonwealths inventory go uncounted or claimed as having a cost of goods sold, any value of any kind of goods sold, of ZERO. our Commonwealth of Natural Resource Capital Assets, the native forests and trees and all that they produce being our living life-support system for which there are no known alternatives, IS NOT ZERO. NOR IS THE GOLD AND SILVER, THE OIL AND GAS, THE URANIUM, THE WATER, EVERYTHING THEY TURN INTO MONEY THAT IS WORTH THOUSANDS OR EVEN MILLIONS OF TIMES MORE IN ACTUAL PRICELESS AND IRREPLACEABLE NATURAL CAPITAL WEALTH THAN THEY CAN EVER GET IN MONEY. TALK ABOUT GIGANTIC SUBSIDIES OF FINITE AND IRREPLACEABLE SUBSIDIES IN IRREPLACEABLE ASSETS. SUBSIDIES EVEN GREATER THAN THE $200 TRILLION IN BAILOUTS FOR WALL STREETS BANKSTER MAFIA THAT RULES THE WORLD. AND FOR 30 YEARS theyve been exporting more than 50% of all the trees they cut in the US every single year unfinished, along with all the American mill-processing jobs if they had had some economic intelligence and made something and then exported finished products. Instead they make the quickest, down and dirty Return on Investment (ROI) exporting most of our nations trees as raaw logs, chips, pulp and now pellets like one of the dumbest, pillage and plunder Third World Colony (and all their shade, soil, air and water, fish and wildlife, climate and weather (which also negatively impacts human existence with the well-known negative cumulative effects of their actions), from their War Zones of Stump Graveyards and all their life-harming, devastating consequences. AND TODAY, as anyone who takes the time to look at any of their favorite places using their computer and BING MAPS or GOOGLE MAPS, or GOOGLE EARTH they can now see for themselves current condition of their National Forests and other federal lands anywhere in the US. You will see whats now gone, gone forever. What little is left. The effects 60 years of corporate bribery and extortion, and NGO collaboration, capitulation and compromising, You can now see your once native National Forestland and the source of 4/5ths of your fresh drinking water, what is now little more than the worlds most massively-subsidized, corporations industrial WAR ZONES of STRIP-MINED CLEARCUTS and STUMP GRAVEYARDS stretching from horizon to horizon. Our once great primeval, cathedrals of native forest wilderness are now nearly gone. Clearcut, overcut and roaded (over 600,000 miles of permanent and temporary logging roads, (with a $10 BILLION Road Maintenance Backlog, mostly un-maintained and eroding) just on our Commonwealth of National Forest lands and wateresheds). Our once protected National Forests and relatively off-limits to industrial extraction, and the UNFAIR US GOVERNMENT COMPETITION WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR THAT REPRESENTS have been liquidated and are now nearly entirely gone and replaced, if at all, not with like Kind or Better native natural forests but with even-aged, single species plantations that are of no use to anybody but industry for their comparatively worthless industrial fiber farms that will never be able, or allowed, to become forests. What does that mean, portend or foretell not only for the human species but for all life on a now ever hotter and colder planet, an Earth that lacks most of its forest cover already along with its living life-support system and therefore is increasingly unable to sustain life as we know it any longer. Note: 70% of the worlds forests are already gone, 95% of our countrys forests and all that they produce that we need for life, are already gone, and yet we are still arguing, still compromising, still losing more every day.
