- An almost 3 year reflection over the teaching of Philosophy. The problem with Philosophy once it is taught to non-Philosophy majors in a short span of time is that they cannot even grasp the language of the philosophers and even the teacher toning down the said intricate language. The moment the teacher tends to simplify, meaning will be lost in oversimplification, and if it is too rigorous they cannot pierce into the veil of their own understanding. And to make Philosophy a trivial matter defeats the purpose of the subject because it is only the trivial which is easily grasped yet philosophy is nothing trivial. Plus the demand to follow the syllabus and also to extend the coverage leaves out the essentials because residue takes time to settle once a solution is stirred. I have been left out in the intricate world of philosophy (envious of some of my colleagues and friends) because I am busy trying to translate it to the language of the people because philosophy is not to be just lauded by the people of its intricate driven mysticism and profoundness and leave it as a artistic yet archaic language spoken, but the call of philosophy is that it is to be understood not just a relic language displayed. The poets/philosophers are unheard of as they cry. We will be nothing but a voice in the wilderness. Just a voice. No resonance, no echoes.
