- Carol Burnett requested that rising comedienne Rosemary Watson, who does impressions of Hillary Clinton and others, be part of the show. Burnett found Watson on YouTube after receiving a fan letter and thought she was funny. - In 1967, 18 year old Vicki Lawrence wrote the redhead and sent a picture showing how similar they looked, so she hired her to be a part of The Carol Burnett Show, which was an 11 year hit on CBS and spun off Mamas Family, where Lawrence played the title character Thelma Harper from 1983 to 1990, both on NBC and syndication. - The thing is, you pay it forward, Burnett said, because when I got started, somebody gave me a break when I was 21 years old, and I wanted to go to New York. Burnett got her break from Garry Moore, who hosted his own talk show as well as Ive Got a Secret and later To Tell the Truth.
