I start laughing naturally and he follows suit, and of course continues to repeat what I say for a few more minutes until finally Im in stitches and he relents by saying... CF: Ok Dad, Ill quit mocking you now! HD: Its ok buddy, I was having fun. How was your day? CF: Well, Im eating pizza, watching Digimon and hanging out with Mom and Zach... HD: That sounds great Coop, but Im not asking WHAT you are doing, Im asking about HOW your day was. CF: Oooooh! Well I had a good day. HD: Thats great to hear. Did you enjoy the movie you saw? CF: It was alright but not great... HD: Im like you, sometimes movies dont quite meet our expectations, right? CF: Thats right, but Dad! Mom was there, and Brook too, and I rode my bike to the theater... HD: So on the whole it was pretty good then? CF: YEP! And tomorrow Im going to Cedrics! HD: ...and I bet youll have a great day! CF: I always have fun with Cedric! HD: I know you do...and do you know what I think is fun? CF: (coyly) Whaaaat? HD: Watching you try new things. Watching you figure out what you like and dont like so much. Discernment. CF: When I was little I liked everything. HD: True, but you are doing more now and at some point we learn that its ok to prefer some things more than others. CF: So we can be happy! HD: ...and learn to appreciate what we have. Kind of a normal day really. Just a regular old, miraculous, delicious, incredible moving full of life, gotta love it, ya cant make this up its so good how my heart feels, kinda ordinary day.
