- Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state are to comply with the international public service accounting format now mandatory for the three tiers of Government in the Country. The State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning Chief Kenneth Okpara gave this directive in a meeting with top officials of the MDA at Asaba the State Capital. - Modalities for the forth coming National Conference has been released by the Federal Government, a statement by the Secretary to the Federal Government Senator Anyim Pius Anyim disclosed that the official name of the Conference shall be the National Conference and shall hold at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. According to the statement the National Conference will tentatively last for three months and shall discuss any subject matter except the indivisibility and indissolubity of Nigeria as a Nation. He noted that a Conference Management Secretariat shall be establishto manage, administer and run the affairs of the Conference, decisions reached at the conference shall be by consensus, but when it is not achievable it shall be 75 percent majority. 492 perons drawn from various sectors are expected to attend the National Conference while nomination of delegates will take place from January 30th to Febraury 20th 2014. - The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Prof. Patrick Muoboghare has call on Teachers in the State to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria TRC so as to be abreast with the lastest trend in the teaching profession. Prof. Muoboghare made this call at the graduation ceremony of the Teachers Registration Council in the faculty of Education of the Delta State University Abraka. He urged teachers in the State to register with the body as anyone who does not have the certificate will be regarded as quack. - The Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei has identified the lack of respect for values as one major factor responsible for the breakdown of societal norms and values in the counrty. Rt Hon. Ochei stated this when he played host to the state director of the National Orientation Agency in Asaba. - The Nigeria home-based Super Eagles will today take on Zimbabwe in the 3rd place game of the CHAN Championship. The Nigerian team lost to Ghana on 4-1 penalties in the semi-final while Zimbabwe also lost 5-4 to Libya on penalties to play the losers game. The Nigerian players has promised to win the game to compensate Nigeria fans for their support. Also the final game between Ghana and Libya comes up today . The final game which will be played at the Cape town Stadium will commence at 7pm Nigeria time while the 3rd place game comes up at 4pm same venue.#J
