- Ice CAN be called ocean-like, just as samsaric existence can be called dreamlike. Are such proclamations helpful in a skillful sort of way? Since the attributes of ice verses an ocean tend to be so different and since the attributes of a dream and the day-to-day interaction with the objects of perception we experience while we are awake are so different from what what we generally experience while we dream, such comparisons are, on the whole, not really helpful from the perspective of developing clarity and insight and in fact, may generally be classified into the category of unskilful dissertations of information. -mh
