- Let me ask you something. - Shoot. - Why? - You mean, why all this? Simple. I want to be happy. - No. - No? Haha. - No. Its more than that. If it were just that youd settle for the sorts of things that make most people believe that theyre happy. Cheap, fast and ugly. But you, youd have none of that. - Haha, really? What are you driving at here? - The essential. You see, youre right. It is about your happiness. But you dont do what you do just for that. Theres more to it. Its not happiness per se that drives you, that makes you wake up earlier than you otherwise would, work later than usual, and spend your minutes thinking of ways to improve your performance even further. Happiness per se is not powerful enough to drive you to be excellent, instead of just good enough. Theres something much more than that which is responsible. - Hahaha, alright get to the point. - Its your happiness, according to your standards. - Yes, it is. - And you see, your standards are high, and consequently the quality of your happiness is high as well. You do not react to simple scenarios that shock and scare most people, and are thus called devoid of emotion. - Ive been called that all my life. - Yes, but you see, your standards and values determine your response. You may not experience casual emotions. You may not be driven by the good enough. But you are driven by the best. And you surrender yourself completely to it. The extent of your emotional response to the things which approach the integrity of your standards, nobody can fathom, unless their standards and values are as high as yours. And in that regard, you are most emotional, and rightly, justifiably so. And the reason is because its not just your happiness that makes you do what you do. It is happiness according to your standard of value. That is why you dont just want to be happy, but you want to be happy as such.
