- Now, we don’t see them, but I’m certain there are stones flying all around the church body. Though fully aware of the plank in our own eye, somehow we still see that speck in our brothers’. Some of us would rather focus on the one thing that went wrong and allow that to overshadow all the other things that are right. Though our mouths be shut, our thoughts are hurling stones at the offender and we become less like Jesus, our Savior and more like Satan, the accuser. Father, remove from us this critical spirit, fill us with grace and mercy and give us strength to set our minds on Your loving heart. Bring to mind the forgiveness we ourselves have received and let us cover the sins of our brethren with Your love instead of exposing them, even if to our own haughty hearts lest we bring judgment upon ourselves. Occupy my conscience at all times and admonish me when I sink into a critical mind & spirit and bring me to repentance, forgive me and help me! I ask these things with confidence and with the authority of Jesus Christ, as I believe He would want this for me and those like me, as well. So be it.
