- The combination of moisture from former Tropical Storm Karen and a cold front bring heavy showers and thunderstorms to the region. - Severe thunderstorms are possible in western New England, eastern New York, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and eastern Virginia. - Damaging wind gusts and hail are the main severe threats, but isolated tornadoes cannot be completely ruled out. - Widespread 1 to 2 inch rainfall is possible. - The front moves offshore Monday night allowing drier conditions to return Tuesday. - It will be warm and muggy ahead of the front with highs in the 70s from central parts of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia eastward. - Cooler behind the front with highs only in the 60s from west New York to southwest Virginia.
