- There is no up or down in space, north doesnt mean up so there is absolutely no reason why we should always expect maps to be shown that way round. - Most maps use inaccurate projections that show countries away from the equator to be bigger than they are and ones closer to be smaller. - We usually see maps with all the English names for everything and everywhere on them, here is one with the names that a small tribe from Paraguay has for places. - This is also better because it doesnt have all those inherently colonial lines all over it. https://decolonialatlas.wordpress/2014/12/01/the-world-in-guarani/
