- We live in an imperfect time and in an imperfect place, of our own making, and the loss of innocent lives should trouble the moral conscience of every human being. Wars, border disputes and retaliatory killing make us less than human. We need to restore faith in humanity and speak out against powers that seek to silence the world with violence and bloodshed. Today, we must take time out from the busyness of life and bow our heads in prayer for the victims of the tragic attack on the Malaysian Airline MH17, and also bow our heads in shame for allowing the world to become so uncaring, cruel and cold. May we never remain silent in the face of war or violence. Let us offer a moment... a minute or more... of silence for peace and the victims of conflict.
