- tubecomments: Got a chance in 1994 to meet and jam with Skip in our Apartment. At the time Skip would go in and out one minute he would be there, the next he played,. That day we played ever song it seemed, that Moby and himself had ever wrote and performed! It was a great Honor to even be in the same room let alone meet and jam on a guitar with him,( most definetely the most talented musician) in my opinion, to come out of the mid-60s bands of that eara. Again what grate honor it was to meet Skip. This is the demo version that was recorded Nov. 6, 1967 with Skip singing alone. It was attempted again in Jan. of 68 before they recorded the version that appears on Moby Grape 69 in late April of 1968. You can get this version here as a bonus track on the CD reissue of Truly Fine Citizen on Sundazed. The Jan. 68 demo appears as a bonus track on the now Katz-deleted reissue of Wow. The Grapes saga is one of squandered potential, absurdly misguided decisions, bad-luck, blunders and excruciating heartbreak, all set to the tune of some of the greatest rock and roll ever to emerge from San Francisco. Moby Grape could have had it all, but they ended up with nothing, and less. -- Thats a powerful and sobering statement. The first two albums, plus Grape Jam are as thoroughly listenable and enjoyable today as they were back in 67 & 68. Great music, sad story.
