$1,000 REWARD for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this dogs condition. Words are something I am rarely short on but today I was frozen, the only thing that I could let out of me was tears. This dog, who I call Boy, was found running for his life in central Bakersfield. He had a hook buried deep into his leg, so far that it actually came out of the other side enough for the clasp to close. The best guess by Dr. Duquette at City shelter is that it was put in about a week ago and it appears Boy was tethered with it because of the stretching and tearing to his flesh. This is animal cruelty at its most evident. There is no ifs ands or buts about it, this was done by a human. Someone in our small town took this dog and either sliced his leg to insert this or the worse case scenario, they forced its blunt end into him. I cant describe the anger, disappointment and heartbreak that we all feel at this moment. All I can say is he is now safe with us. This sadly was not the only wound on Boy and it appears that whatever home he came from was a hellish place that I wouldnt wish any animal into. We cant sit back, accept it and move on. Instead we must stand up and fight for these animals who have no voice. We are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the monsters who did this. While we cannot show you his face at this time we ask that the community rack their brains and try to remember if they saw anything like this.
