*** 1.4.15 - Topic Of the Day... Self Accompaniment. Ive been working on finger style blues rhythms for a week now. This style includes using your thumb on my strumming hand to play 1/4 notes, while the other fingers pluck the melody. Its a really great sound because the bass part is being played counterpoint as the melody is going on. I have to say, its hard. Very hard. Ive always admired players that can play this sort of style because its so huge sounding and musical. Coming from a rock background, this isnt something Ive ever worked on until now. It may take me a couple of weeks but I will get it together. I will also show a short lesson on the style. Its something that all players should work on because it really makes the mind split parts on a single hand. Playing it slowly is very important to get the thumb hits separated. Timing, timing, timing. Im working on it... Enjoy your Sunday :)
