“10 Years Under The Desert Andy Armstrong will share many discoveries made in Lechuguilla Cave over the last decade, along with highlights of work in and around Grand Canyon, Arizona, as well as tales of exploration of Fort Stanton Cave in south central New Mexico. Fort Stanton Cave is an incredibly beautiful cave that is over 26 miles long, and currently holds the world-record for the most remote passages in terms of distance from a known cave entrance. Andy Armstrong harkens from Nashville, Tenessee, and began caving in 1993. He graduated in the class of 2000 from East Tennessee University as a Geography and Geology major and also began working for the National Parks Service cave resource management that same year. Andy married fellow caver Bonny (True) Armstrong in 2001. in 2003 Andy worked at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in the process of upgrading and stabilizing the entrance to Lechuguilla Cave. Andy went on to become one of the major participants in the exploration of the cave over the past decade, and currently serves as the Cave Specialist at the Timpanogos Cave National Monument in north central Utah. His caving experience through the years has evolved with his job locations, and includes well-known cave locations like Wind and Jewel Caves in the Black Hills, Grand Canyon caves, Fort Stanton Cave, and various high-caliber projects in China, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, to name a few…
