#100daysofhappinesschallenge #day96 Back on the Fatal Fury tip. This is easily my favorite VG ad of all time. its easy to see why, but this is more to talk about one of my favourite fighting game characters of all time, Terry Bogard. You see back in the days of old fighting games, your protagonists were usually the same old run of the mill, Gi wearing karate fighters with little to no personality and backstory. So when SNK released their first fighting game, they wanted to make something unique and different. And the end result was legendary. Terry, also known as the Legendary wolf, was unlike any fighting game protagonist at the time, instead of the Japanese karate gi or military uniform, Terry went for the All-American look. Instead of Training in one particular discipline, he developed his own by mastering various styles he developed on the mean streets of Southtown. Instead being bland and generic, Terry is charasmatic, laid back and extremely likeable, he was a little closer to being like the average guy on the street. And his backstory and development as a character speaks volumes. Terry was an orphan who fought to survive all his life in Southtown USA. He along with his brother, Andy was then adopted by Hakkyokuseiken master, Jeff Bogard, who together with his master Tung Fu Rue, later trained them in that particular style. Years later, and Jeff was attacked and killed by his fellow student and rival, Geese Howard in front of both Terry and Andy. In a quest for revenge, Terry and Andy both spent 10 years training to defeat Geese in order to avenge Jeff, and unlike Andy who fled to Japan, Terry chose to stay in Southtown to take on various different fighting of unique styles. He later went on to defeat Gesse, and a year later took out his brother, Wolfgang Krauser, earning him the nickname the Legendary wolf. The unique thing about him is that despite beating his fathers killer, he still offered to save him from death, and even took his son, Rock Howard under his wing. I guess hes mentioned, because hes testament to the fact that you can be cheep and cheerful despite having tragedy constantly hitting you in the face, and Terry has been one of the more believable heroes in his genre, which youd think would be hard to go wrong in fighting games, but you wouldnt believe that by looking at his contemporaries (Looking at you, Ryu) Plus Im too amused by this ad :D https://youtube/watch?v=gFZNaNwbWkw
