(11). LESSON 11: DAVID INSTRUCTED SOLOMON BEFORE HIS DEATH TO DEAL WITH THREE SPECIFIC PEOPLE: 1ST KING 2. Specific Bible Reading: 1st Kings 1-11 Supportive Scriptural References: Proverbs 17:11-15 And Matthew 5:43-48. SCRIPTS: This is to establish the point that: David instructed Solomon before his death to deal with Joab, sons of Barzillai and Shimei according to what they did, because David still hold them to heart and want them to be repaid by all means. The point David was at that time was the point of major reflections of his entire life. The bible specifically says the day he should die draw near and He gave Solomon charges to take revenge. There are others that did more harm to him than good of all the people he dealt with and he had wholeheartedly forgiven them. But why did he strongly hold these ones (Joab&Shimei) to heart without forgiveness? And why did he strongly hold Barzillai to heart to repay his children the good he did to him? For he did him good and not evil, we can say he want Solomon to repay the children of Barzillai for his good because he will no more be alive to repay them. So also, he wants Solomon to repay Joab and Shimei for their evil because he will no more be alive to repay them and he had plan to repay them. Brethren, we can repay people that did us good because we plan to do so, but never plan to pay back evil for those who did us evil like Davie planned. This will majorly create an awareness of un-forgiveness in your heart towards those people and also helped to continue the trend of un-forgiveness and bitterness in your lineage. You will want to pour out the depth of your heart and plan at your death bed, and then, your children takes them as major assignments in life to respect you. Never plan to pay back evil for evil, for evil can’t overcome evil, evil only promotes evil for continuity, but rather plan to pay back good for evil, for good is highly capable to overcome evil, good not only stops the continuity of evil, it also replaces evil and run speedily to correct every error evil has made, rebuild every havoc evil has wrought and re-write every story evil has written. Therefore, to have a beautiful life for yourself, children and generations to come start choosing to repay good in place of evil.
