14. Nirvanna - Negative Creep. 1989 Negative Creep written by Kurt Cobain is about himself, and how he claimed that he always saw himself as a negative person. A textbook example of Seattles true grunge sound... featuring Cobains frantic wails and screaming on top of a repetitious and heavy grunge riff. It took me a long time to come to terms with liking Nirvanna, as I have always ran a mile from Bands that everyone tries to ram down my throat. i.e. “Best Band ever, …I’ve heard 2 songs, they’re great, what, you don’t like them, why?” The best example of this I can remember was U2’s release of The Unforgettable Fire. I was listening to U2 in 1981 and people at school took the piss out of me and the albums Boy and October. 3 years later the same people now love the band and apparently have always liked them….? U2 fans in 1984 felt like a plague of locust. So, this made me ultra cautious about diving in and liking bands just on the hear say of lemmings. In this case I was very wrong not to like them straight away, but it at least did save me from listening to the likes of Bon Jovi, Ratt, Poison and a wall of insipid Happy Metal.
