# 140—Doing Discipleship----When traveling to Europe amid the chaos of post-World War II devastation, Dawson Trotman wrote to Jim: “I am not interested in filling up time in Europe with large meetings but rather I am trusting Him to lead me to certain individuals with whom time may be spent on this matter of getting individual CHRIST-ians into the Word in order to grow and be able to propagate the Word individually by multiplication.” (DAWSON TROTMAN IN HIS OWN WORDS, 180) Four years after this letter was written, another one of Daws’ guys discipled me in Europe, and a life of multiplication began. Discipleship is not a program—it is people. It is finding “faithful people,” who are able to reproduce themselves. (2 Tim. 2:2) We can never disciple anyone, unless we ourselves have been discipled. That’s the point of Jesus’ final words to His disciples. He discipled them. (Mark 3:15) Then He sent them to make disciples. (Mat. 28:19-20)
