★★ 16 Year Old Daisy is NOW an Orphan and Seeking a Loving Home. Please open your Heart to a Wonderful Senior who has Lost the only Family that she has ever Known ★★ Manhattan, NY West Side Two nights ago Daisys Dad, Charles, passed away. He leaves behind his best friend Daisy, a 16 year old lab who brought him so much joy. Over the last few years, the assistance our volunteers provided made it possible for Charles and Daisy to remain together as a family, which we know meant everything to him. Sadly, Daisy now needs a new home. Please help us by sharing Daisys story. If you or anyone you know is interested in fostering or adopting this sweet girl, contact Rachel at [email protected] or 212.203.4760. It is a MUST that this old girl stay in the general vicinity of NY...NJ, CT...to move her a long distance would not be in her best interest ADDITIONAL Information About Daisy: Daisy is definitely 16. She is visiting with a vet right now so we can make sure to know if there are any health concerns. She has arthritis and is on meds for that (twice a day). She has never lived with any other pets before, and she is used to a quiet home and constant companionship (since Charles was homebound, he was home all the time). Charles has been feeding her cooked chicken and rice and not regular dog food. She doesnt have great teeth, so she cant eat the dry food. I think we could probably get her on wet dog food though as I know finding someone to cook for her might be difficult. Due to Daisys age, she does need to be walked quite a bit. She has been having some accidents, and hopefully the vet will let us know if its something that can be treated and perhaps handled with just extra walks a day. She had only been getting 2 or 3 walks a day, so 4 would be ideal. Daisy is very sweet and all of our volunteers who have been walking her love her. While I think she would generally do well with other animals, there is one dog in her building that she doesnt get along with (according to Charles, Daisy was attacked by a dog when she was young and the dog in the building looks like that dog). She barks, but as far as I know, she has never shown any real aggression. At 16, she wouldnt have the energy, so the bigger concern would be how other pets would adjust to her. I believe she would be great with kids, but again, she has never lived with them so I cant say for sure. We have never had any reports of aggressive or otherwise negative behavior... its all been positive and glowing. Shes just such a sweet girl. If you have any more questions, please dont hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Rachel Herman Founder / Executive Director PAWS NY 240 Kent Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11249 [email protected]
