#17thSeptember2014 made us realise state oppression,autocracy of the authority and brutal violence was not just a topic for debate where we cite examples of Kashmir and the North East . #17thSeptember2014 made us realise how powerless we have made ourselves by willingly giving them the power to do as they please. #17thSeptember2014 made us realise the uselessness of degrees and marks. Those assaulted were brilliant people with brilliant marks. Did that make them immune to the blows? They say EDUCATIONAL institutions should be bereft of such political activism. I wonder why? You teach us about high blown theories of justice and legalities, rights and individuality and then you curb them all in reality? The Brits have left theyve left their heirs. Youll want us to stay mute when we see wrong? Become deaf when we hear screams? Ignore when we see them being broken bone by bone simply for speaking up for the right? Then youll have the guts to be our moral guide? If Morality is what youre looking for then look beyond short skirts and half pants. A drunk boy sitting in class is better than a conscious man letching at girls. A boy(Sohel) once told me and I quote this might be a failed rebellion, in the end it might achieve nothing. But all will not be lost! This rebellion will see many heroes rise (both genders, rather all gender including the queer, who have been equally involved with the movement since the beginning). This is our 1st movement, there are bound to be mistakes. We are rising against a structure which we have lived all our lives, most of us at least. It will of course take time, sucking up to the other side. Many cling to the structure because they are too scared. Out of fear. The other side is alien to them! We have made new friends, new comrades in the battlefield. When we walk past and when we will walk past each other in the future, smiles will be exchanged. Smiles reminding us of what we went through together. we cant hope to end all with one movment! There was some great man who once said, that he sees all movements as one. Each movement is one more step further. One more step towards uprooting! He and many like him are the reason why #hokkolorob is not just a Hash Tag which will fade . Its a movement which will live in our conscious, sub conscious mind as we move along in our lives. It made us mature . It made us realistic. It inculcated in us a morality which went beyond physicality. This #Uproar may become that tiny Whisper in each of us guiding us through life forcing us to stand when we see wrong and empowering us with those memories of thousands of students walking in the rain for justice. We are not alone we are the masses, we are the future. If we step back and let them run the world according to their whims we will rob ourselves of the title educated. Education isnt a degree we hold to get the best corporate job to join the bandwagon of the looters,the thieves. Education is that sense of empowerment which should make us capable of calling a spade a spade! Students start a movement when they are moved . #17thSeptember2014 Moved Them.
