#1922 F 24 I saw some civilian kids coming over this page and cribbing about fauji brats. So I decided to share my story. I am a civilian kid who lost her mother at the age of 10. My father being a man was finding it very difficult to bring up a girl child all alone after my moms death. So my aunt who was an army wife came forward to take the charge of my upbringing. There my bond with the Indian army started. My mothers death had left me devastated. I was rushed to military doctors for psychological help. They advised my aunt that the only way round to help me was to treat me with love and let me forget the pain of my mothers death. It didnt took long for this news to get spread across the entire unit. All the unit lady wives instructed their children to take care of me during gatherings, play times almost everywhere. I still remember that incidence when it was the birthday party of one of the officers kid and all the children were supposed to get involved in some game. I driven by my depression refused to play or even speak to anyone. All the other children lined up in front of me and said we will also not play if you dont join us. This incidence still makes me smile and cry at the same time. Where the hell will you find a crowd where 7-9 year olds are also this sensitive. Then there were lady wives from AWWA who took pains to bake a cake and come to me at midnight on my birthday to surprise me and make me feel special. There were bachelors and bhaiyas of my uncles unit who gave me an extra bar of chocolate to make me smile. I lost a year in schooling because of my mothers death but there were those coperative and kind students and teachers of army public school who stood by me giving back my lost confidence. That emptiness of my mother is still there in my life but I am no more that depressed child in fact an independent and strong lady all thanks to the lovely people of defence fraternity. And who says defence brats are only good at throwing tantrums and moving on. At present I have only 3 best friends. All three of them are brats and also the guy whom I am engaged to is a brat and a officer in army. Grow up civilian kids! Defence kids are no different, they too go through ups and downs like you and me. So stop tagging them with worthless remarks! A.N - NOTHING MORE TO SAY. :) #DK
