*** 2014 Dream hunt *** Team member Luke Kleck got it done!!! Most of the action captured on film. We cant wait to share it with you!!! Here is my story... After over 30 days of scouting and preparing for this hunt of a lifetime. Joining me on my adventure team members - Adam Kleck and Jamison Anderson. Also joining me my dad Jack, great friends Dustin and Casey. We pick up this story a few days into the hunt. Jamie and I had been into bulls all day. The rut was full on with at least 20 different bulls screaming with in ear shot, tearing up trees and chasing cows. We had looked over several bulls that evening. There was no real set up and thats why I love hunting the heavy forest during the rut. You can bounce from bull to bull and you never know what youll find as you search for the trophy of a lifetime. As Jamie would keep the bulls bugling and run the video camera, I would sneak in on them and look them over. This one was a little different however. We found two growler bulls that were keeping about 400 yards from each other and we positioned ourselves right in the middle of them and made soft cow calls hoping that the bulls would acquire an interest and come closer to gather us up. It worked!! The first bull came in very close just up the hill and to the left of us. He acted very nervous as he paced back and forth at about 50 yards and every time the other bull would bugle, this bull cut him off angrily. I got a good look at him and he was a beautiful 340 class bull but decided to let him go in hopes that the other bull was a true giant. Eventually the bull slipped out in the direction that he had come from but went right back to the same spot and continued to bugle. We figured thats where he was stashing his cows. We moved down the the creek a few yards in the direction of the other bull and began to softly call again. Here he comes!!! We caught the movement of his horns through a small opening in front of some old downfall. As he made his way towards us, Jamie continued with the calls as I looked him over with my binoculars. He also hung up at about 50 yards but I could see him great. He was a little smaller bull with a great big growling bugle and his fronts were amazing. A dream bull on any other hunt Ive ever been on. His horns just kind of weakened at the top. We watched him tear up a pretty healthy tree and bugle in our direction as to tell us to come join him. We watched him shake the torn limbs from his horns and hurrily search the woods for the cows that seemed to disappear into the thick cover. He too quickly returned to where he came from and continued to growl. Jamie and I conversed for a couple minutes about what to do next as we were both in disbelief of how amazing this spot was. Jamie suggested that we head up the creek since we hadnt been there yet and it sounded like there was about 5 more bulls going crazy up in that direction. As we snuck uphill through the timber, we took our time and cow called. Suddenly out of the thick patch of trees to our right we caught movement and froze. Three cows cut 30 yards in front of us across the hill and stopped to stare us down. The bull that followed about 5 yards behind them looked like an absolute giant as he also stopped just out of our full view behind some Christmas tree sized timber. We could only catch glimpses of his rack but could see he had amazing royals and super long length. Its kinda hard to carry on a conversation when you have a monster bull at 35 yards but we tried our best. I whispered to Jamie...what is he? Jamie replied I cant tell, I cant get a good look at him. The standoff continued as burst of adrenaline shot through my veins and wished I had x-ray vision... Or if it would soon be an option in the modern medical world. I finally got a good shot of his right side and it looked like a bull I dubbed Super Cinco. A bull I had seen earlier in the summer while out on a scouting trip with my friend Casey Byrd. If it was in fact him, he was on my hit list. I knew Super Cinco was big but having glassed him up over a mile away, I didnt realize he was that big. As time dragged on, the cows eventually took a few steps as they determined we werent a threat. That was all the giant bull needed to coax him into our line of sight. Within a millisecond of seeing the giant set of antlers, I knew it was Super Cinco as I raised my muzzleloader and fired. The giant bull quickly disappeared into the timber as Jamie and I tried to follow him through the thick cloud of smoke that followed the blast. Hearts pounding, Jamie did his best to keep the camera steady as I tried to reload my musket. We crept through the trees silently following his unmistakeable track that quickly led to signs that he was hit hard. We made it about 15 more yards and caught his cows milling around in a small opening with no sign of him in sight so we sat and watched them for a few minutes. As the evening darkness quickly approached, we picked up the trail again and found him laying underneath some trees at the roll of the hill. I thanked God for the opportunity to pursue such an amazing animal and for blessing me beyond belief. As Jamie and I admired the animal, I couldnt think of anywhere on earth Id rather be. I was so excited to have my father along with me and for him to be able to experience it with me. Id like to say thank you to... First and foremost God, whom none of this is possible without (luke 1:37), to my father Jack Kleck, brother Adam Kleck, great friends Jamison Ellison Anderson, Dustin Simms, and Casey Byrd. Thank you all for your help and experiencing this amazing hunt with me. Many more to come. Video footage coming soon... 2014 Hunt of a lifetime. Trophy bull taken - Long with lots of character and tons mass!!! Truly Blessed - Luke Kleck
