[2015: IT’S TIME FOR S’ EAST TO PRODUCE PRESIDENT –IGBO SUMMIT] ----------------------------- An Igbo summit organized by World Ndigbo Youth Movement ended in Enugu at the weekend with a resolve that 2015 is the appropriate time for the people of the South East to produce the president of the country. In a communiqué signed by the President of the youth group, Ndubuisi Igwekani (aka Agu Biafra) alongside seven zonal coordinators, the summit resolved to give and mobilize support for any political party that chooses an Igbo candidate for the presidential position. They urged qualified Igbo citizens across the globe to show interest in the position and called on the governors of the South-East to end the crisis in Ohanaeze Ndigbo by calling for fresh election to bring the apex body together before the 2015 elections. The summit stated that the Igbo nation would not fold its arms and watch its citizens being harassed, intimidated and killed in some parts of the country and condemned the recent deportation of Igbo from Lagos, urging Governor Fashola to apologize to the Igbo. The group expressed concern over the spate of violent crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery in the South-East and called on the governors to ensure that such vices were brought to a halt. They urged the Federal Government to immediately end the excesses of the Boko Haram sect, saying “we support the position by CAN that the committee set up to pursue amnesty should be disbanded as such approach is tantamount to encouraging the terrorists.” On the Anambra elections, the summit dismissed the issue of zoning and called for a situation where all the zones were allowed to freely present candidates. “What Anambra needs is a good candidate that will take the state to a greater level,” the summit stated.
