# 222—Sound of Serving----Jesus draws a bold contrast between the approach of the world and the approach of Christ-followers. And He strikes at the very issue of leadership. Here it is: “But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. “ (Matt. 20:25-7 NLT) Then Jesus explains the concept of servant-leadership: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt. 20:28 NLT) Several years ago I taught this concept in a multicultural seminary class. Several guys pushed back. One commented: “My culture demands that a leader is a macho man.” Jesus really counters that culture.
