23. Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl. Cinnamon Girl is a song by Neil Young. It debuted on the 1969 album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, which was also Youngs first album with backing band Crazy Horse. Released as a single the following year, it reached #55 on the BillboardHot 100 in 1970. Young wrote Cinnamon Girl while he was suffering from the flu with a high fever at his home in Topanga, California. The lyrics have the singer daydreaming for a girl to love, singing that he waits between shows for his lover. Young has claimed that he wrote the song for a city girl on peeling pavement coming at me through Phil Ochs eyes playing finger cymbals. It was hard to explain to my wife. I wanna live with a cinnamon girl I could be happy the rest of my life With a cinnamon girl. A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together, chasing the moonlight, My cinnamon girl. Ten silver saxes, a bass with a bow The drummer relaxes and waits between shows For his cinnamon girl. A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together, chasing the moonlight, My cinnamon girl. Pa sent me money now Im gonna make it somehow I need another chance You see your baby loves to dance Yeah...yeah...yeah.
