(28 Oct) Former Loughton resident Michael Marshall Smiths (@ememess) novel becomes international television series. Michael..., who now lives in California, had The Intruders published in 2007 and will see [the book] re-issued on November 6 following the UK launch of the new BBC2 series. The former Chigwell School student, who moved to Loughton with his family in 1974, has published a dozen novels and almost a hundred short stories since he began writing in the 90s. Mr Mashall Smith said: I’m delighted and very excited about Intruders launching. When I wrote the book I couldn’t have imagined that it would end up on the screen, especially with talents like John Simm, Mira Sorvino, James Frain and the utterly remarkable Millie Brown taking the leads. I love what they’ve done with it, and I hope it finds an appreciative audience, I only wish I could be sat on a sofa in Loughton watching it tonight!
