#31DayMusicalTheatreChallenge Day 18: Favorite Movie of a Musical (not original movie musical.) ANNIE I stand proud! I know there are so many better options to choose from - e.g., Evita, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Into The Woods, Gigi. All of which I love and know are far better than Annie. I was 10 and begged by mother to take us. Im not sure if it was the idea of a billionaire rescuing an eleven year old that I loved so much, or the right of passage of being allowed to set in a movie theater by myself (nobody wanted to watch it with me because they wanted to watch some movie call E.T.) At the age of 10 I was already in love with Carol Burnett, but this would be my first introduction to Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, and Ann Reinking. I fell in love with 1930s New York, and was so disappointed when I discovered it was not the same in 1982. My mother loved E.T. So much she went back several times that summer to watch it. Each time she would let me go see Annie. I didnt see E.T, until after Annie left the movie theater. The following summer my aunt got cable with HBO and a VCR. My cousins hated me. To this day, I will still watch it. youtu.be/Tg7JWB2SR7E
