#31for21 day 6: So before my totally awesome Gigis interruption, I was talking about therapy. All kids with DS require some form of therapy. Maggie does get a lot, but that is because I want her to reach whatever potential she has. I dont want her to be bogged down with I cant or use her disability to get out of trying. So we do a lot of therapy now so she can LEARN how to effectively use her body for everyday tasks we all take for granted. Working with her physical therapist for 3 months, learning how to properly position her body and correct her movements, Maggie learned to roll over at 7 months old. Another handful of months and she is sitting without support. More months of hard work, and today she can pull to stand, cruise and excitedly take a couple unsupported steps!!! Yes, her milestones are delayed. But if she didnt have therapy she wouldnt be doing many of the things she can do now. Every advance is cause for celebration because Maggie works hard to learn!!!
