No public entity in Texarkana, Bowie County or Miller County, if memory serves, has put forward a tax increase of this magnitude in 30 years—if ever. It is unheard of. Because of bad financial management, the county is looking at increasing property taxes from a rate of about .34836 to about .47361. That is a 36 percent increase in property taxes. They parrot “all of the County’s problems started 10 YEARS AGO and are James Carlow’s fault, and the Commissioners always vote against him”. We suggest it’s time for them to stop drinking the bad Kool-Aid and consider drinking water to clear their heads.
