(4 mins) Tony Abbott has used an address to world leaders - TopicsExpress

(4 mins) Tony Abbott has used an address to world leaders entitled the Leaders Retreat at the Brisbane G20 yesterday to moan about his domestic policies not getting up. He also lied by omission by saying he made four promises at the election campaign. You know what they were - abolish the carbon tax, stop the boats, build the roads (not public transport) and to fix the budget. He gloated the first two has been achieved, and looked smarmy as he did so. Naturally he missed the bit about no cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS. Im not sure how interested the 19 other leaders were in Tones moans about purely domestic issues. And abolition of the Carbon Tax probably wasnt going to go down well in minor countries like China and the USA whove redoubled their efforts to cut emissions far more rapidly than originally planned. Bill Shorten said: At best, this was weird and graceless. At worst, it was a disastrous missed opportunity for Australia Abbott complained to world leaders that he was having trouble getting University cuts and a Medicare co-payment through the parliament, and praised the Queensland Government for abolishing its upper house in 1922. This was Tony Abbotts moment in front of the most important and influential leaders in the world and hes whingeing that Australians dont want his GP tax, said Shorten. He boasted of taking Australia backwards on climate change action, making it harder for Australians to go to university and pricing sick people out of getting the healthcare they need, he said. Greens leader Christine Milne said Mr Abbott had been shown up by Barack Obama, who, in addition to the deal with China, has pledged $US3 billion to a global climate fund. Tony Abbott is showing what a small-minded and insignificant player he is by whining about domestic politics instead, she said. It beggars belief that Tony Abbott made a fool of himself, boasting about abolishing an emissions trading scheme in front of a room of people who are committed to taking action on global warming.
