It has been proposed by our leaders to build a statue of SHRI SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL in Gujrat which would be known as STATUE OF UNITY. It will be the biggest statue in the world. They are planning to invest around Rs.250000000000 (2500 crore rough figure). In a country like India where we have problems like povery, high illeteracy, unemployment, is it justified to invest such a huge amt on a non productive activity.?? If you say that it would increase our tourism income then too a point to think is how much return would we get and this crores of money would be definitely borrowed then what about interest? n if some1 says tht our treasury has such a huge amount then y dont they provide subsidies for cooking gas? If we see oportunity cost then too its too large... Todae sum1 told tht because of shirdi k sai baba tourism over there has furnishd and they have progressed...Thinking in this way do u think people will donate in the same way as they do in shirdi? Again think foreign tourist visit India to njoy historical beauty thn do u think this statue would attract foreignrs n affct our national income? This money can be utilised for education purpose which would definitely increase our National Income in future... IS THIS INVESTMENT VALID? OR IS IT AN INVESTMENT OR A DEFERD REVENUE EXPENDITURE??
