#4431 I started preparing for GATE last year with a lot of passion.As time passed, I began to compare private and government sector and came to conclusion that i should prepare for placements rather than this stupid gate exam. I want to share my experience with juniors so that they dont waste their precious time and money in taking coaching. Demerits of GATE: 1. If you do not have passion for doing masters then DONT DO IT simply for the sake of it.I mean you wont be paid a lot after doing mtech.Its a total waste of time and money and you will be demoralized seeing ur frnds earning a lot more than u. 2. If you want to get into PSU,remember most of these jobs are transferrable meaning you will have to move from one place to another(not that great,isnt it?) 3. You will have to STUDY a LOT.. really a lot if you are from General category(if you have some category..Ooolaa close your eyes and go for GATE or CAT) 4.Placements will clash with your preparation.So you will have to choose between the two.And honestly after my experience I would say prepare for placement coz competition is way less than these psu. I feel GATE is good if you want to become Professor, or Scientist. I hope all these suggec=stions will help you all. p.s:I am placed in a Decent company(6+ Package :D) If you want money try for private jobs where you can reach heights based on ur calibre.
