$5m strong plan to bust road congestion for Carrara, Merrimac and Robina residents Gold Coast motorists will spend more time with family and less time stuck in traffic under the LNP Government’s plan for congestion-busting projects. LNP Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said a re-elected LNP Government will spend $5 million upgrading the dangerous roundabout at Carrara, reducing congestion across the city’s suburbs. Ms Bates said she had listened to feedback from motorists from Carrara, Merrimac and Robina and their frustration at getting caught in traffic congestion. “If re-elected, we will be delivering an upgrade to the notoriously busy roundabout at the intersections of Gooding Drive, Robina Parkway and Nerang-Broadbeach Road at Carrara. “Construction involves a third lane on the roundabout with overhead directional signage in time for the Commonwealth Games. At the same time the preparatory ground work will also be done to realign the intersection for the installation of lights. “This roundabout will be one of the major thoroughfares for visitors and residents to Metricon Stadium during Games events.” Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said the projects were part of the strong plan to bust congestion through the LNP’s Strong Choices program. “If elected, the Newman LNP Government will deliver our Strong Choices plan that will pay down the debt and deliver an extra $1.5 billion in job-creating road projects in South-East Queensland,” said Mr Emerson.
