(6-1/4 mins) The video is long, but Ive kept the pace right up, and use a wide variety of reflections on the ABC cuts by many of the players. Malcolm Turnbull, Tanya Plibersek, Jonathan Holmes, Leigh Sales, Ben Elton and Jason Clare, among others, are showing that a two second PROMISE (no cuts to the ABC or SBS) becomes, according to Malcolm Turnbull, a REMARK made in only one interview. That two second, totally unequivocal promise now requires many minutes of explanation, discussion and obfuscation. But no matter how much lipstick you put on it, its still an outright lie. Turnbull may well say that we need to take Grabbits comments in context. But to all of us listening the night before the election, the context was pretty blooming plain. If Turnbull is so insistent we need to weigh up what Joe Hockey and Turnbull had previously said about the ABC (ie there would need to be cuts - although they said savings and the efficiency dividend, of course) then the Grabbit promise should have not been made the night before the election, but a WEEK before, so we would actually have had the time to carefully consider it. Remember that the details for the Liberal Party policy costings - reams of documents - were released late on the Thursday before the election. A record number of people had already pre-polled, and youd have been lucky to have READ the information, let alone considered and tested it. Tanya Plibersek sums it up in two seconds right at the end. We cannot believe what Tony Abbott said, because it wasnt in writing. If Grabbit et al can pillory Julia Gillard for saying no carbon tax under a government I lead, which was a broken promise because if she didnt break it she would not, in fact, have been leading the government, then this - along with countless other lies from Grabbit need to be given the significance they deserve. I said it here many months ago, if you want to know what Grabbits real thoughts are on an issue, you simply listen to what he says, and the answer will be the total opposite. Easy. People dont need to love a Prime Minister, but they do need to trust them, is an important observation by Shadow Communications Minister Jason Clare. You could put the Prime Minister on a polygraph and it would break. Never forget. A liar is a liar is a liar and seldom able to reform.
