#6 Historical and important instruments - harpsichord in Chateau DAssas __________________________________________________________ Harpsichord was made in the first quarter of the 18th century and be ascribed to the french builder Pierre Donzelague in Lyon. This instrument can be found in beautiful condition in the Chateau dAssas in company with other important musical instruments (one of them is the Sweden Positive Organ which was belonged to Wanda Landowska). Pierre Donzelague was born at Aix-en-Provence in about 1670s-80s, he was the son of an instrument maker. As a young man he moved to Lyons, where he gained a widespread reputation both as a harpsichord maker and as a practising musician. That harpsichord is best known with the connection of the harpsichordist Scott Ross, who was live a long time near the chateau, and where recorded a large part of his discography on this instrument (all 555 sonatas by Scarlatti and works by Couperin and Rameau).
