#7 Favorite Album / EP of 2014 - Megafauna - MAXIMALIST Austin’s Megafauna have been building their spellbinding act for several years now (I’m so happy to say that they have played Yes, Indeed! two years running), but in my eyes and ears, MAXIMALIST officially takes them to the “national” level. Singer/Guitarist, Dani Neff knows her way around a fretboard. She has perfected the art of shredding on the guitar yet thankfully does it without coming off like a “hair rock wanker”. The rest of the band pull their weight as well with the bass often doubling the guitar riff, and drums pounding out the beat and switching meter with no problem. When I listen to this album I marvel at the technical skill involved in playing the instruments, arranging the parts of the songs, and forming it into a whole. There is just so much talent brewing in MAXIMALIST that I wonder how they did it. And often when the album is over, I go back to the beginning and listen again! https://youtube/watch?v=w4y7SGvM_Ac
