#7239 AMUSUs struggles for students welfare attains success; struggles to continue till all demands are met The AMU administration today displayed its autocratic and anti student agenda by refusing to even discuss the 16 point supplementary agenda provided to the Vice Chancellor by AMUSU President related to students issues and welfare. Following this there were huge protests by common students as well as AMUSU representatives because an Academic Council cannot take a decision without consulting the students concerned. The various Deans of Faculties present at the meeting equally showed their apathetic attitude, as they could not even tolerate the presence of AMUSU Secretary Shahzeb Ahmad and students representative Mohosin Mandal, although AMU Constitution clearly states that there shall be four elected students representatives at the Academic Council. Finally after two hours of heated arguments the administration was finally bound to discuss our agenda. It has been decided that the Faculty of Engineering must provide the necessary requirements for starting B. E. Electronics and Computer, and M. E., by 7 February. These courses shall be started in the upcoming academic session. A committee shall be formed to look into the case of arbitrary fee hike. The revised fees shall be applicable from the next session. The issue of bifurcation of Departments in Faculty of Law will be resolved in one month. HR shall be appointed in ZHCET in this academic session. The struggles of AMUSU shall not cease till all our demands are met, and we shall ensure our remaining agendas get passed in the next Academic Council meeting to be held in March. The AMUSU President Abdullah Azzam would like to express his gratitude to the AMU students fraternity for standing by AMUSU in the fight for justice.
