#8898 I confess I feel hopeless while browsing through scholarships after scholarships and realising then that not being a Singapore Citizen or PR effectively ruled me out from 90% of the scholarships on offer. Getting a perfect GPA was tough to say the least, but as a foreigner, with so few scholarships Im elligible for, is perfect even enough..? Omo, the level of stress..! I get it Im not a Singaporean, although I would love to be one someday... =) Like many others, Im here because when it comes to education, I choose Singapore over Msia, the country with a racially bias education system. Haizz, sad story there (for political reasons cannot elaborate)... Anyways, with a new sem on the way and no better option, I shall quit complaining and bury my head in books. Also, all the best to whoever is reading this..! I guess to conclude. Msians and Singaporeans are indifferent when it comes to complaining about our respective nations education system. If the stats are anything to go by, you guys shouldnt be complaining. Trust me, you will not have a better sense of national pride than to see Singapores NUS ranked 22nd in the global QS University Rankings, and 1st in Asia. (Hint: Try searching for Msian Unis.) Let me end this with a joke: My sister studied maths and science taught in ENGLISH at primary; maths and science in MALAY at secondary; maths and science in ENGLISH for STPM (A-Level/ Diploma equivalent). You heard this joke, we Msians, lived through it... Dont believe? Ask around... PS: For all you lovely Singaporeans who have a Msian chinese for a friend. If you see us busting our asses studying day and night, frequently overdosing on caffeine; have some sympathy on us. Because trust me, we weighed all our options, and this is our only way up...
