**A 15-year-old girl was assaulted during a robbery in Abbey Hey.** At around 6.30pm on Monday 2 September 2013, a man opened an insecure window to a house on Ewan Street, Abbey Hey and went inside. He walked upstairs where he was disturbed by a 15-year-old girl. The man demanded money and jewellery before he grabbed her and threw her to one side, continuing his search. He eventually left, taking a small amount of jewellery. The offender is described as being white, 5ft 7in tall, of skinny build and spoke with a local accent. He wore dark clothing and had his face covered with a balaclava. Detective Constable Dave Berry based at Central Park Police Station said: “Thankfully the teenager was not hurt but understandably she has been left shaken as the last thing she expected was to be confronted by this man. “This defenceless girl has then been grabbed and thrown to the side, giving us an idea of the type of man the offender is. “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious at the time of the robbery to contact police. Also, I would urge those who may be approached and offered jewellery in suspicious circumstances, to call us.” Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 3521 / 4288 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
