Sea of joy. . Dear diary, Good old king herod here. I was sitting with an old guitar legend brother(not a buddy, a tagalong, a connection , an aquaintance , i said brother) and hes a clapton lover. meself, steve winwood and ginger baked. so whilst this was on the jukebox, each of us had out little blind faith genius thrash on us, and he remarked ...an awesome song if you could find a singer that could go that high . true that to the hilt . But it did motivate my album of the night practice. Blind FaithBlind Faith . A single album produced from awesome genius of all those involved. Im no virtuoso or solo ripping legend , but even with out that , just cruising thru the intricate rhythm portion make you giddy.Alot of solo musicians back away because they get intimidated by it, or feel that if they dont play it exactly like the record it wont sound right. This is by no means true. If it doesnt sound like the record, it just means you are not 4 guys named Blind Faith.Its okay , you dont suck , you just arent all Baker,Clapton,Winwood, or Grech all rolled into one carcass. Its funny , because over the years, going to parties , clubs, other peoples gigs , etc, because of my lack of ego(what are you laughing at ? - im very humble), I have no problem throwing out the name of a song and letting someone boil a lead in my face.Lucky for me ,my life is full of boiling lead virtuosos and legends.But sometimes I name off a song that makes people cringe.Some go on with another song, but most of the time, especially the past couple of years, more are hearing me out. And finding great amusement in it. For example, recently I got invited to a practice , with some awesome talent. I went more for the cameraderie and beer, but was asked to participate a little cause of follow the bouncing herod (TM) principles. Whilst there was a pause, I suggested Ride my seesaw. Eyes rolled. ughs were expressed. Then , I broke it down in a funny sid vicious chunk format. Hilarious. The minute they started , the lead guy looked giddy and I could already hear the surf/crash/thrash lead he was about to play, and it poured out like a vengeance as expected. One of them later pulled me aside and asked me what songs i would play if i had a band . Once again , teeth grinding eeeeeh iiiiiiish . Oh well , so Ill never have my own band(greek eye roll). But Im not going to change my song list anytime soon. Meh. Anyway , hope to everybody on acoustic sunday. Also , last minute hint to the video youre listening to , hint: C7.
