~~ A FB Christmas ~~ Bitter? Sweet? Both? Yes, both. 4 bells in the central time zone and it is off to Moms house. Mission? Get the dressing made, turkey cut in half, put it all in a bag, hope it turns out okay. Havent had turkey in this house for a long time so turkey it was for our Christmas meal. Thank you Missouri turkey growers...we bought a fresh, never frozen turkey. Read a deal on FB the other day about cutting the bird in 1/2 to cook it faster, moister. Well. Why not! Famous Tammy fresh mushroom dressing, Penzeys poultry seasoning, 1 brown n bag. We got this. Well, Hadnt planned on ripping a hole in the bag right out of the chute...but, we got this. er...maybe. Wrestled the stuff around in the bag, zipped er shut, put it all in another tray since we have an unanticipated hole in the bag, shoved in the oven and me and cowdog Hawk...we wait, we watch and we are ready for the potential mess. Hey...weve never gone into a situation knowing that failure is inevitable lol...we got this. Now, what to do while we wait? Well...we want to thank our good FB friends in oHiO at the Longhorn Sugar Shack...thatll be Matt Carter & the boss of the outfit Ms. Kimberly Elges Carter for the new addition to our pantry...the raw wildflower honey. Yep, not only do these fine folks provide us with the finest, thickest, richest, made from scratch maple syrup but now they have shipped in honey. Their honey has traveled plum clear to Missouri and Montana this Christmas as a sweet yummy. Doesnt get much better than this...does it Matt & Kim! Matts mom fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and the good Lord called her home to eternal rest just a few shorts months ago. Merry Christmas does not quite fit for Mr. Matt this year. He writes that his mom was the rock of the family. I understand the not being merry Matt & Kim. I do. But, I want to thank you for the friendship that I have found with yall...via FB. Even when your mom died, you still mustered the strength to take the kids to the county fair to show their livestock. What great parents you all are. Rodger Benson and Twist N Ties got some of this sweet raw wildflower honey too. Rodger and his wife have had some health issues and at the moment they wait for the docs to line Rodgers wife up to do some work on her ticker. Yep, we need the parts around the heart to be fixed once in awhile so that we can continue to be stewards of the Lord & the land. Rodger is one fine range pasture specialist and if you gotta weed problem...he is the man to call. And Twisty...by gosh you have really shipped out a lot a fine, fancy silk wildrags to keep us ranch folks warm this winter. Part of being an addict is to admit to your addiction...so, yes dear...I have been an addict - havent I...lol! Hawk & I took in 2 church events last night. One in our little town of Russellville and the second event at 11 pm in the smaller little village of Lohman. Ok, I nodded off once at the 11 oclock service...but I got it back together after I dropped my bulletin and my Lutheran pew neighbors noticed & winked. Driving home and coming up the steep L-shaped hill coming up out of the bottom we had to pause midway to let 8 white tails decide if they should go left or right...they decided both left & right. They were staring at something. Didnt dawn on me until we got to the top of the hill and through the S curves that they were probably staring at the stars. My Lord...after weeks n weeks n weeks of cloudy 24x7...there were stars appearing. The sky was clearing from W to E and there big as life in moms driveway hung Mr. Orion. Talk about glad to see an old friend. I was over the moon but there was no moon. Wonder where it is? And here we are...it is Christmas day. Bird is in the oven, Hawk is snoring next to the sewing machine, mom is snoring in the chair next to me, and I am banging out a FB post with a gazillion typing errors. It is a great day for many and a sad day for many. Be mindful of your surroundings folks...have compassion for the hurting hearts. Baby Jesus is now here for the happy & the hurting. Happy or hurting, it is Christs birth day and he doesnt sort us out one gate or the other...he sorts us all to the same pen and treats us all the same...giving us a forever, enduring love that is there no matter what. Last, but not least. I want to thank Scott Jason Hall, his wife Betty and Bret N Melanie Haskett for the gold & silver pendant of my beloved cowdog Bert. Scott is the engraver, Betty did the rein chains and Bret did the rawhide braiding. The sweetness of having a piece made by 3 folks to honor my Bert. Thank you for working on this and making the little project happen. Sunshine and 50F for central Missouri today...let it shine!
