“A” GOOD WAY or “THE” GOD WAY Each day, at whatever stage - TopicsExpress

“A” GOOD WAY or “THE” GOD WAY Each day, at whatever stage of life we are in, there are choices to be made. Some of these choices may seem small, while others may seem quite large and life changing, but each one requires acceptance of one idea, and rejection of one or more actions or decisions. Our way of making each of these decisions is a decision in itself. Another decision is, are we going to use the same decision making plan for all, or are we going to use a variety of methods. If we really want consistency in our life, and for each area of our life, we need each of these decisions to be directed by the Holy Spirit, and this comes as we seek Jesus Christ and His Way. Recently while reading 1 & 2 Samuel, it was noticed in a number of places that King David “inquired of the Lord” before making decisions of going into some battles. It is not recorded that he did this every time, so we are not sure of that, but he did it a number of times. When he “inquired of the Lord”, the results were as the Lord told him. Through the Scriptures, it is not recorded that King David “inquired of the Lord” on any decisions regarding his personal life. In matters concerning his family and personal actions, King David just went ahead on his own, and apparently did what he desired, or what he thought was right at that time. In areas of ministry we are probably apt to “inquire of the Lord” on a more regular basis, and see what He would have us do. Particularly in what we may consider “big” decisions we would seek God, but what about areas we may consider smaller decisions that need to be made? Even when things seem to line up, from the human perspective, we need to “inquire of the Lord” and see if He is the One leading, or if we are following our own plan and thoughts. Also, in our personal lives, it is necessary to “inquire of the Lord” about decisions to be made regarding our family, work, career, activities and anything that is going on. Even if we think of getting involved in some good activity or ministry, before we jump in, we should see if that is the area the Lord wants us to be involved in. Something may be good, or even great, but if the Lord is not leading us in that direction, we are missing the best. God has a plan and a purpose for each of us, in ministry, and in various areas of life. In order to know and confirm God’s plan in our life, we need to “inquire of the Lord”, and listen for His Voice to lead. He will give direction, we just need to seek Him, and listen, and obey.
