"A Girl and a Gun" represents journalism in its purest state. The film unfolds each woman with compassion without political posturing. The director, Cathryne Czubek, brings us into to the depths of real women who have reacted to a world of impending and real violence and revealed their intelligent contemplations regarding arms and power. The filmmaker has accomplished this with pure guerrilla prowess. Her care for the interviewed pulls the viewer into the lives, minds, and often, dark visions that all Americans face in a society that celebrates violence and a system ready to turn fear into sales. The opening in Denver was privileged to have the director present and open to discussion from a diverse and tolerant audience.
