==== A LAKEHOUSE SPLASH COMMUNIQUÉ ==== ---(for those who have not been e-splashed already)---- Hello dear friends and teachers, and any folks in general who are ponderous and passionate about what it means to have a homeland, This message - in most broad terms - is about homeland (as heavily-baggaged and contentious a word as it is). Its been one year exactly since splash-rapper BenadriLL and I released the Steve Jobz video and still, after almost a dozen more, it remains the piece for which I am most proud. In honor of Steve Jobs, reflecting a Do What You Can, With What You Have, Right Now DWYCWWYHRN aesthetic, it was shot entirely on apple iTems (iPad, iPhone, iMac, MacBook) and edited on iMovie (no lie). The video is a celebration and remembrance of the people (like Jobs himself) and places/communities (like the LakeHouse, Bens Home) which localized us, influencing us to dream differently, and I suspect more freely. Maybe youre wondering, but whats the LakeHouse? Well, Bens grandparents bought the LakeHouse in 1946 and, in the same South Seattle valley which gave birth to Hendrix, where a young Ray Charles met Quincy Jones, and where Sir Mix-A-Lot cruised with his posse, Bens bedroom-turned-recording studio became the epicenter for a distinctly lake-based hip hop. A reverse mortgage and several waves of gentrification later and in 2013 the LakeHouse, like so many other family homes in historically working class, minority, and immigrant neighborhoods nationwide, was reluctantly sold in a 90 day short-sale - so we did the only thing we could at the moment which was make this video, like a stake in the mud or a sacred artifact. It would be a tragic end to the story of the LakeHouse if the community and culture it fostered were forgotten and replaced by the staid single-family homes of an increasingly out-of-reach American Dream, in which waterfront and otherwise well-located luxury properties are designated for the ultra-rich alone. Our goal is to one day collectively buy back the LakeHouse (or several) and turn it into a music studio, boathouse, and community property, or something of that nature. Were doing what we can to keep you in the loop, treading to keep afloat in the spectacle, so if you or your friends would like to keep up-to-date on future wave-making, consider subscribing to the LakeHouse Entertainment or RoofDoggLove youtube channel, and go ahead and follow Ben (@BenadriLL) and myself (@roofdogglove) on twitter. Finally, if youve read this far, and are inspired by the tale of this wonderful home, consider lending your hand to the cause. Beatmakers, visual artists, filmmakers, web-designers, dancers, sculptors all welcome!!! Why row it alone? or in the words of BenadriLL, Great minds, assembling all of them, is my calling son. Infinite gratitude for your support, On behalf of all LakeHouses/waterfront properties of the world, Splash and thanks for listening, LakeHouse Ent. BenadriLL, Mo Money, Yung Dolla$, Mad Rich, RoofDogg and many more I write the preamble of our future constitution... property is robbery - J-P Proudhon
