***A MESSAGE FROM THE VICE WING COMMANDER*** Team Dyess, Let me take a moment to wish each of you a happy Independence Day! I hope youre looking forward to the long, fourth-of-July weekend, enjoying some well-deserved time off. However youre planning to celebrate our nations 238th birthday - whether youre traveling out of the area to go boating and do water sports, or staying local to barbecue in your backyard, watch a firework display, or attend one of the holiday events taking place in and around Abilene - please remember to make good decisions. As Ive learned throughout my Air Force career, good decision-making starts with having a plan. Back when I played football at the Air Force Academy, I had the pleasure of being coached by the winningest coach in Academy football history. One thing I learned from Coach DeBerry was, you never step on the field without a solid game plan. This has been a recurring message Ive heard many times in the years since. Just last week, Col Starr issued this guidance to the wing: Assess risks, come up with a plan to minimize those risks, and watch each others backs. So I say to you again - have fun!
